Opened in April 2006, Daito City West Library is more than just a repository of books. It’s a community hub. Located in Nango Park, the library is known as “Raiburari Nango”. It shares its building with the Lifelong Learning Room.
Daito City West Library holds over 134000 volumes. It subscribes to 125 journals. With seating for 74 people, it’s a great place to study or read.
The Daito City West Library has convenient service hours. It’s open from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Sunday. On national holidays, it closes earlier at 5:00 p.m.
Note that Daito City West Library closes on the first, second, and third Wednesday of each month. It’s also closed for New Year holidays and book collection inspections.
To borrow materials, you need a library card. If you live, work, or study in Daito City, you can get one. Even if you’re from a nearby city, you can still borrow books. However, reservations are not available to you.
Library members can borrow up to 10 items. You can borrow them for two weeks. Renewals are possible, unless someone else has reserved the item. Reference books and newspapers can only be used inside the Daito City West Library. An automatic lending machine makes borrowing easy.
Returning books is simple. When the library is open, return them at the circulation desk. When it’s closed, use the book return box outside the Nango Park entrance.
Finding books is easy. Use the OPAC system. Computers are available near the counter for this. The library also has reference books. These cannot be borrowed and are in the reference corner.
Can’t find a book? Ask at the circulation desk. If it’s checked out, you can reserve it. Request forms are at the desk.
Daito City West Library welcomes requests for new books. If you have a suggestion, fill out a form at the circulation desk.
Remember that if you lose or damage a book, you must replace it. If you can’t find the same one, talk to the staff.

Need a quiet place to study? Reserve a table in the study corner. Photocopying services are available for a small fee. Color copies cost a bit more.
The Daito City West Library also provides a nursing room. Just inform the counter staff before using it. Please note food, beverages, smoking, and cell phone use are not allowed in the library.
