Perhaps you’ve noticed the simple numbering on the graves here at An Nasim Cemetery. These numbers distinguish each grave from the others. This system helps families locate their loved ones within An Nasim Cemetery.

An Nasim Cemetery is a significant burial ground in Riyadh. It reflects the city’s respect for the deceased. The cemetery is well-organized. It provides a final resting place for many.

In 1413 A.H., an inquiry was made about the numbering system at An Nasim Cemetery. Officials were sent to investigate. They noted several observations. Rags of various colors were tied to gravestones. Pipes and steel bars stood beside some graves. Some gravestones were painted in different colors. The officials also found graves marked with numbers like 5, 15, and 55. Only one name, Musaid ibn Dalim, was found written on a grave. A list of numbers was nailed to the cemetery wall. It seemed the municipality had made the list.

The committee concluded that marking graves is permissible. The Prophet Muhammad marked the grave of Uthman ibn Mazh’un with a stone. However, writing on graves is not allowed. This includes names or numbers. The Prophet Muhammad forbade plastering graves. Building structures on them was also forbidden. Drawing pictures on graves is also prohibited. This prevents any path to idol worship.

Using mortar or clay to mark graves is not allowed. Painting graves is similar to plastering. Extremism is marking graves with marble slabs. The Salaf did not mark graves this way. Tying rags to gravestones is also not allowed. This practice is used for seeking blessings.

An Nasim Cemetery serves as a reminder of life’s fleeting nature. It is a place for reflection and remembrance. Visitors often reflect on their own mortality. They also pray for those who have passed away. Many seek to strengthen their faith in Allah.

Some visitors find that An Nasim Cemetery needs more attention. They hope Riyadh Municipal Affair will provide it. The cemetery’s well-organized layout provides solace. It also offers a sense of peace. Despite the challenges of parking and access, people find comfort here. An Nasim Cemetery is open for visits from 8 AM until sunset prayer. It is a place to remember loved ones. It is also a place to reflect on the meaning of life.
