What do Los Niños Urbanos represent for the city of Córdoba? Well, standing right here in this park, you can feel the energy of this sculpture. It’s not just a piece of art; it embodies the spirit of Cordoba’s future. Los Niños Urbanos, created by the renowned Córdoba-born sculptor Antonio Seguí, was inaugurated on December 8, 1999. This impressive steel sculpture, reaching 12 meters high and 18 meters long, depicts two children, a boy and a girl, confidently striding hand-in-hand towards the future. They’re accompanied by a loyal dog and a young tree, symbolizing companionship and growth. Interestingly, this wasn’t part of Seguí’s original plan. The citizens of Córdoba, having embraced El Hombre Urbano and La Mujer Urbana, felt the “family” wouldn’t be complete without a representation of their younger generation. Los Niños Urbanos, standing tall at the entrance of Córdoba’s International Airport, serves as a symbol of hope and the city’s bright future to those arriving by air. This sculpture is not just a monument but a testament to the power of art to shape the identity and aspirations of a city.
