The Pedrouços Atlético Clube, the local team, was founded on October 2nd, 1929, from a merger of neighborhood clubs. Their first meeting place wasn’t a fancy office or clubhouse, but a tailor shop right here in Pedrouços. This tailor shop was where players received their jerseys and shorts, completing their kit with whatever footwear they could find. Later, the club moved its headquarters to Rua Artur Neves, where some of the oldest members still gathered. Then, in the 1980s, members built a new administrative headquarters next to the field. Complexo Municipal de Pedrouços, the stadium where the team plays, is a testament to the club’s journey. Recently expanded to meet modern standards, it hosts the Pedrouços Atlético Clube’s official eleven-a-side matches. The complex isn’t just the main stadium; it also features a training ground and the club’s administrative offices. One of the club’s proudest achievements is winning the Porto Football Association’s First Division District Championship in 1985/86. This victory made them the first team from Maia to play at the national level. Complexo Municipal de Pedrouços witnessed another milestone in 1990/91 when they triumphed in the National Third Division Series B. This propelled them to the National Second Division the following season, another first for a Maia team. The club plays in the Porto Football Association’s Honor Division, aiming for national championships.
