Let’s travel back in time, to 1932. Picture the Parque Sarmiento in Córdoba, a vast green space untouched by the urban hustle. The Teatro Griego, a beautiful amphitheater, was just being built then. Its unique design, blending seamlessly with the natural curves of the landscape, was a visionary idea of Felipe Bellini, the director-general of Parks and Recreation. The idea was to create a space that echoed the grand theaters of ancient Greece, using the natural slopes and the breathtaking views of the city. Today, we stand before that same Teatro Griego, a testament to ingenuity and the power of nature’s collaboration with art. Although the initial performances featured choruses like those from the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, it wasn’t long until the stage echoed with the electrifying sounds of rock and pop bands. Sumo, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Rafael, Los Trovadores, and the legendary Cuchi Leguizamón all performed here, captivating audiences. The air would surge with energy, a symphony of music and passion, as the stars lit up the night sky mirroring the stars on the stage. Today, the Teatro Griego continues to host a variety of exciting events, from the vibrant Griego Rock and Griego Mujeres festivals to the mellow sounds of Griego Jazz. The Teatro Griego is a timeless monument that seamlessly integrates art and nature. It is a space where history whispers in the breeze, where memories come alive in the music, and where the echoes of the past resonate with the pulsating rhythm of the present.
