Have you ever heard of a neighborhood named La France? It’s a small, quiet place in Cordoba, Argentina, full of charm and history. Imagine a time when this area was a sprawling estate, a haven for relaxation and escape from the city bustle.

This was La France, a place of peace and beauty, owned by Jean Loustau-Chartez, a successful local entrepreneur who imported agricultural machinery, and his wife, D\u00e9sir\u00e9e Bidaut, a Parisian. They named their property “La France,” a testament to their heritage. The estate boasted a canal, a mill, stables, a tennis court, gardens, and a beautiful manor, a rectangular structure surrounded by a gallery. It was a self-sufficient paradise, a hidden gem in the heart of Cordoba.

But times changed, and the city grew around the estate. As Cordoba expanded, the old manor was closed and neglected. Eventually, the last owners, Celina Loustau-Bidaut and her husband, Ernesto Soler Olive, donated the manor for the first school in the neighborhood. In 1941, they decided to subdivide the property, transforming it into the vibrant barrio we know today.

Over the years, La France has grown into a community with its own unique character. It’s a place where history and modernity blend seamlessly. You can see traces of the past in the names of the streets and the architecture of some of the older buildings. But the neighborhood is also bustling with life, filled with people who are proud of their heritage and embrace the opportunities of the present.

Today, La France is more than just a neighborhood. It’s a reminder of Cordoba’s fascinating history, a testament to the enduring power of family, and a place where people gather to build a brighter future.
