From its exterior, Halle 6 might appear simple. However, its vastness hints at the grand events it hosts. This square giant, the largest structure on the Messe Dusseldorf fairground, isn’t confined to trade fairs. It vibrates with the energy of sporting events and resonates with the melodies of concerts. What makes Halle 6 truly impressive is its innovative design. Imagine a space of 26,000 square meters, unobstructed by columns! This engineering marvel is achieved through a remarkable roof structure. Four massive truss girders, each extending 165 meters, intersect to form the framework. They are supported by internal truss columns and external tension members, creating a clear span of 90 by 90 meters. Adding to the airy feel is a facade of glass panels, rising above a six-meter concrete base. This allows natural light to flood the interior, imbuing the space with an air of openness. While its size is imposing, Halle 6 possesses a surprising grace, thanks to the ingenious blend of steel, glass, and light.
