In 1929 a new settlement emerged. It was Stolpe-Süd. Twenty hectares of forest near Heiligensee were transformed. A residential area grew on the border of Berlin. Stolpe-Süd was born.

Stolpe-Süd is a unique district. It lies in Hennigsdorf Brandenburg. It’s a quiet place. It’s nestled northwest of Berlin. Stolpe-Süd is mostly single-family homes. It sits near the border with Berlin-Heiligensee. Another Stolpe Stolpe-Dorf exists. It’s a part of Hohen Neuendorf.

The history of Stolpe-Süd is fascinating. After World War II French forces needed a base. They wanted to build an airfield. They negotiated with Soviet authorities. A deal was made. Part of Stolpe including Stolpe-Dorf was ceded. It was given to the French sector of Berlin. The remaining southwest part became Stolpe a new municipality.

The French changed their plans. They built Tegel Airport instead. Stolpe returned to the Soviet zone. To avoid confusion the two Stolpes were renamed. Stolpe-Dorf and Stolpe-Süd became distinct. Reunification was attempted. It failed due to food card issues. Stolpe-Dorf regained its original name in 1950.

For a few years Stolpe-Süd had a train station. It was a stop on the Kremmener Bahn. Passenger service lasted from 1958 to 1961. The Berlin Wall halted the line. The station was demolished. Today no trace of the station remains.

In 1998 Stolpe-Süd became a district of Hennigsdorf. Today it’s a quiet residential area. It remains a little-known piece of Berlin’s history. It’s a quiet testament to shifting borders and changing plans. The area is connected to the rest of Hennigsdorf via bus line 808. Despite its proximity to Berlin-Heiligensee there is no direct bus connection. Stolpe-Süd stands as a quiet reminder of a complex past. It represents a unique chapter in the story of Berlin and its surrounding areas.
