“Fifty years of grace, love, trials, heart and gratitude” is not just a saying at Greater New Jerusalem Community Church. It is a lived experience. This church has a rich history. It started with a group of teenage boys.
Let’s step back to November 6 to 7, 1971. Something extraordinary happened. God’s living Spirit poured out on these boys. They gathered for a TEC retreat. Fr. Richard Rohr led them. It was unexpected. It was unplanned. Richard preached on the Prodigal Son. The boys went to the chapel. Then there was Pentecost.
Fifty years later, many gathered to celebrate. It was November 6 to 7, 2021. They celebrated the 50th anniversary on Zoom. This celebration is recorded. You can find recordings of the Zoom gatherings. You can listen to Richard’s and John Quigley’s reflections. Many spoke about the impact of New Jerusalem Community on their lives.
