The school’s motto is Where Every One Is Royalty. The school colors are purple and gold. The mascot is the Royal which is often represented as a lion. Previously, it was a court jester.
Upper Darby High School’s newspaper is called the Acorn. The yearbook is named the Oak. The school emblem is the royal oak tree. Each year, the Acorn award is given at the UDAEF Sweet Night Out Foundation Ball in February.
Upper Darby High School is one of Pennsylvania’s largest high schools based on enrollment. The school has over 230 classroom teachers. The student-teacher ratio is about 16 to 1.
Upper Darby High School boasts the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center. This nearly 1800-seat theater hosts hundreds of events each year. The Summer Stage program calls this place home. Harry Dietzler started Summer Stage in 1976.

Many notable people have walked these halls of Upper Darby High School. Tina Fey, writer and star of Mean Girls, is an alumna. Jim Croce, the famous singer-songwriter, is also a graduate. Other alumni include writers, actors, sports figures and more. The Upper Darby High School Wall of Fame honors outstanding alumni.
