Opened in July 1980 Valley High School stands proudly. It’s a continuation high school part of the Escondido Union High School District. This isn’t your typical high school. Valley High welcomes students from diverse backgrounds. Many arrive needing a fresh start. They may have faced challenges elsewhere. Maybe they’ve experienced extended illnesses or family issues. Perhaps they’ve fallen behind on credits. Whatever their reason Valley High offers a chance to succeed. The school’s mission is clear Learning for all whatever it takes. This commitment is evident in the smaller classes. Personalized instruction is key. Students get individual and group counseling. The school uses a standards-based learning approach. There’s also a strong multi-cultural emphasis. Valley High prepares students for life after high school. They provide support for college or vocational training. The school helps students become responsible members of their community. The Response-Ability Training Program RTP is a unique aspect of Valley High. All new students attend this nine-week program. It focuses on education personal responsibility and respect. It’s a stepping stone to full-time enrollment. Monica Lee a California Continuation Education Association teacher of the year currently leads the RTP. Valley High is committed to its students. The staff creates an environment of support.
