“You Belong Here!” That’s the greeting you might hear as you step through the doors of Cornerstone Baptist Church. Cornerstone Baptist Church formed in 1983. It was the merging of the Beulah Baptist and Gratiot Avenue Baptist Churches.
Senior pastor Bob Johnson II began his service in 1989. Due to the church’s growth, they moved from one location in Roseville to their current spot on 12 Mile Road seven years later.
Construction on the present building for Cornerstone Baptist Church started in 2002. It finished two years later. Pastor Bob Johnson II says he loves to preach about Christ. He wants people to find satisfaction in Him. Bob was born in Ohio in 1960. He is a Buckeyes fan. He is married to Cathi and they have three children.
Jerry served as an associate pastor at Cornerstone Baptist Church from 1995 to 2009. He returned from 12 years in Ukraine where he was a professor at Kyiv Theological Seminary.
Zeola serves as the Women’s Precept Bible study leader at Cornerstone. She believes all she needs is in Christ alone. She retired as a federal criminal investigator in 2012.
Scott has been at Cornerstone since 2017. His passion is to see young adults living by faith in Jesus Christ. Dave serves as Associate Pastor of Discipleship and Counseling. He helps the congregation fulfill the “one-another” commands of Scripture.
Chad is the Associate Pastor of Family and Children’s Ministries. He directs the “In the Light” children’s ministry at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Dave has been a member at Cornerstone since 1998 and on staff since 2015. Before that, he taught math. Derek grew up attending Cornerstone Baptist Church. He loves to worship with the body of Christ.
Johnny has been serving at Cornerstone since 2012. He is the Associate Pastor of Student Ministries. He wants to help students enjoy God.
Cornerstone Baptist Church wants you to feel welcome. Guest services can point you in the right direction. The worship service includes music to prepare your heart. Pastor Bob Johnson speaks for about 40 minutes. The services last about an hour and 20 minutes. People dress casually, so come comfortably.
Cornerstone Baptist Church offers ministries for children from birth to 6th grade. There is also a Sunday School program for students in grades 7-12. Cornerstone believes it is important to address your standing before God. God sent Jesus Christ to live and die for us. To trust in Christ, we must repent and follow Him.
Baptism is a public statement of faith. It shows you are united with Christ. Cornerstone Baptist Church believes local congregations help people grow in Christ. Members support the church financially and serve in various ministries.
Cornerstone Baptist Church holds a Parent/Baby dedication twice a year. It is a time for parents to affirm their desire to raise their children in the Lord. The congregation also reaffirms its commitment to support the parents.
Cornerstone Baptist Church supports mission work. They have fundraisers for missions in Haiti. They also support work for unreached people groups. Fundraisers include pancake breakfasts, silent auctions, and pie auctions. Members assemble bags with toys for kids in Haiti.
Cornerstone Baptist Church partners with local ministries. These include Twin Lakes Camp, Small Church USA, and Edgelea Elementary. They also partner with Habitat For Humanity, Trinity Life Ministry, and Through the Gate. Cornerstone supports the Wabash Valley Baptist Association, Crossroads Fellowship of Indiana, and Plant Indy.
Cornerstone is part of the Southern Baptist Convention. They support the association’s work to encourage pastors and spread the gospel.
