And indeed, Good Shepherd Convent, perched on one of Colombo’s highest points, has many stories to tell. Founded in 1869, this grand institution stands as a testament to the vision of the Benedictine Italian Archbishop of Colombo, Rt. Rev. Sillani. He dreamt of establishing a beacon of knowledge and faith for young girls. The seed for Good Shepherd Convent was sown with the unwavering support of the French Saint Mother Euphrasia. Through the years, thousands of girls have passed through its hallowed halls, their lives touched by its legacy. From its humble beginnings with just eight students, Good Shepherd Convent has blossomed into a renowned institution. Today, this grand dame of Colombo’s educational landscape continues to empower young girls. It equips them with the tools to navigate the complexities of the modern world, instilling in them the values of compassion, integrity, and service.
