What makes Vasant Vihar one of Delhi’s most exclusive neighborhoods? Vasant Vihar is a diplomatic and residential subdivision in New Delhi. It is known for its upscale ambiance and diplomatic prominence. It exudes exclusivity and elegance.

Originally developed in the 1960s, Vasant Vihar was home to retired Government of India officers. Its proximity to the diplomatic enclave of Chanakyapuri led to its development as a posh residential area. It became similar to Air India and Indian Airlines Colony.

Today Vasant Vihar houses over 50 diplomatic missions. You will find the High Commission of South Africa and the Embassy of Argentina here.

The main streets form a rough triangle enclosing much of the neighborhood. These streets are Munirka Marg, Vasant Marg, Poorvi Marg, and Paschimi Marg. Paschimi Marg and Poorvi Marg literally mean Western and Eastern Street.

Vasant Vihar is primarily residential. It was originally planned with six blocks named A to F. Some sources mention blocks A through Z. Each block has its own local market and park. The area is home to wealthy business families and senior government officials. High-net-worth individuals also live here.

Vasant Vihar boasts several well-known schools. These include Modern School, Delhi Public School Junior Branch and The Shri Ram School Junior Wing. Other schools are Tagore International School, Guru Harkrishan Public School and Holy Child Auxilium School Senior branch. You will also find Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Suraj Bhan DAV Public School and Sarvodaya School here.

In 1996, India’s first McDonald’s restaurant opened in Vasant Vihar. It was the first McDonald’s in the world not to serve beef and pork products.

Vasant Vihar is well-connected. It is located off the Outer Ring Road. Vasant Kunj and R.K. Puram border it. Key roads include Munirka Marg, Vasant Marg, Poorvi Marg, and Paschimi Marg. The Vasant Vihar metro station is on the Magenta Line. Hauz Khas Metro Station on the Yellow Line is also nearby. Indira Gandhi International Airport is approximately seven kilometers away.

The locality is divided into blocks. Each block has its own park and local market, fostering community and convenience. Its close proximity to Chanakyapuri enhances its appeal. Diplomats, expatriates, and discerning homeowners are attracted to Vasant Vihar.

Properties in Vasant Vihar range from sprawling bungalows to independent houses. Luxury builder floors are also available. Plot sizes range from 250 to 2000 square yards.

Vasant Vihar is known for its safety and security. It is considered a safe locality with a low crime rate. Many residential areas have 24/7 security. The presence of numerous embassies adds extra security. Delhi Police conduct programs focusing on personal and cyber safety here.
