Opened in 2006, Panyu Square station lies beneath the vibrant heart of Panyu Square. It’s a key station on Guangzhou Metro’s Lines 3, 18, and 22. Panyu Square station is more than just a transit hub. It’s a gateway to a modern district, south of Shiqiao, marked by the striking Panyu District Government Building and other high-rises. Imagine emerging from the station onto East Qinghe Road or Xingtai Road. You’re immediately immersed in the pulse of Panyu Square. Panyu Square itself is a dynamic blend of government offices, commercial buildings, and bustling city life. This area was once part of Panyu County, a region with a rich history dating back to the Qin dynasty. Panyu Square station is a testament to the region’s growth and transformation. Before 2024, this station was the southernmost stop on Line 3. The eastern extension to Haibang opened in November of that year. This important extension connected the already existing three lines and further integrated the region. Inside Panyu Square station, you’ll find six platforms across three different levels. The station boasts a complex network of tracks and platforms to accommodate the three intersecting lines. This allows for seamless transfers between lines. It reflects the station’s importance in the city’s transportation network. For a brief period in 2022, platform 6 was temporarily out of service. This change aimed to simplify transfers between Line 22 and Line 18. However, normal service resumed a few months later. Today, Panyu Square station continues to serve as a vital transportation link for locals and visitors alike. It’s a symbol of Panyu’s ongoing development and modernization. Stepping out of the station, the towering government building and sleek high-rises speak of Panyu’s progress. But traces of its historical past, as part of the ancient Panyu County, remain woven into the fabric of this dynamic district.
