Two stupas stand tall as silent witnesses. They guard the story of Wat Thep Phon Pradittharam in Nong Khai province. This province borders the Mekong near the enigmatic Wat Ko Soei Khet.

Wat Thep Phon Pradittharam holds relics of Wiang Kuk. Wiang Kuk is an ancient city and now a sub-district. The brick stupas reach about twenty meters high. They look almost identical in size shape and decoration.

One stupa stands right behind the modern Ubosot. The other is a bit separate. Nature embraces them both. Plants flowers and thick roots slowly cover them. The humid climate helps nature reclaim these monuments.

These stupas likely rose in the 16th or 17th century. They were abandoned for a time. People returned to the site in the early 20th century.

Between the stupas lies an interesting building. This is the Sala Kan Parian. It is a large hall that stays dark even with open windows. Inside under a complex roof sits a big Buddha image. It spans several meters.

The temple’s GPS coordinates are N 17°47’54 E102°40’10. Wat Thep Phon Pradittharam gives us a glimpse into history. It is a place where old meets new. Nature blends with ancient art. The temple stands as a testament to time’s passage and enduring faith. It tells a story of forgotten cities and rediscovery.
