Have you ever imagined stepping into a bustling cafeteria, the aroma of diverse dishes filling the air? This is the Xue Yi Cafeteria, also known as The First Student Cafeteria, at Sun Yat-sen University, or SYSU. It’s a hub of student life, a place where hungry minds and bodies come to refuel. Xue Yi Cafeteria is located on the South Campus, just a five-minute walk from the Chinese classroom building. Navigating this culinary maze can be a bit daunting at first. But once you understand the flow, it’s an invigorating experience. As you enter, you’re presented with a choice. Three levels, three dining styles. The ground floor offers a classic cafeteria experience. You grab a tray and choose from a variety of prepared dishes. Upstairs is an à la carte section for those who prefer a more customized meal. Downstairs, set meals offer a balanced combination of meat, vegetables, and rice. Finding a seat can be a challenge during peak hours. But there’s usually space available upstairs, downstairs, or outside in the pleasant open air. After your meal, a quick stop at the in-house bakery is a must. It’s the perfect place to grab a sweet treat before heading back to class.
