In 1974, amidst the bustling energy of Chiba City, Saiwaimachi No. 3 Elementary School opened its doors. This school, nestled in the heart of Saiwaimachi, quickly became a cornerstone of the community. Saiwaimachi No. 3 Elementary wasn’t just a place for reading, writing, and arithmetic. It was a vibrant hub where young minds were nurtured and dreams took flight. The school’s motto, “Dream big, live fully, learn continuously,” resonated through the hallways and classrooms. One of the most remarkable aspects of Saiwaimachi No. 3 Elementary was its renowned recorder club. Established in 1984, the recorder club, known as the “Saiwaimachi Winds,” captivated audiences with their harmonious melodies. In 1985, they achieved national recognition. They performed “Wooden Recorder Song for Recorder” at the All-Japan Recorder Concours and the TBS Kodomo Ongaku Concours National Competition. The following year, they returned to the national stage with “Fantasy Song by Londonderry”. They even earned a prestigious invitation to perform at the All-Japan Recorder Federation. The Saiwaimachi Winds continued their streak of success in 1987. They performed “Londonderry Air” at the Kanagawa Band Festival. In 1988, they reached the pinnacle of their achievements, winning the Minister of Education Award at the All-Japan Elementary School Band Festival. Even though the recorder club is now disbanded, its legacy echoes through the halls of Saiwaimachi No. 3 Elementary School. The school stands as a testament to the power of education and community spirit. It reminds us that even in the midst of a bustling city, a small school can make a big difference in the lives of its students.
