Ever wonder how a church can grow from a small group to a thriving community? The story of Trinity Presbyterian Church is quite remarkable. Founded in 1949, Trinity Presbyterian Church set out to serve God joyfully. It aimed to share God’s transforming love known through Jesus Christ.
Led by its elders and young pastor Allison F Williams, Trinity quickly expanded. By 1955, when its American Greek Revival Sanctuary was dedicated, it boasted 1000 members. This highlights early success.

In the 1990s, Trinity Presbyterian Church became a leading church. It stood out in the Atlanta Presbytery and across the denomination. The church excelled in adding new members. It also saw many baptisms of infants and adults. Support for the denomination was also strong. Trinity’s campus expanded too. A new fellowship hall was added. Additional education wings provided more space. In 1991, Joanna M Adams became Trinity’s second senior pastor. This made Trinity the largest church in the denomination to call a woman to this high office.
In 2001, Trinity Presbyterian Church addressed its growing needs again. The 2000-member congregation sought further expansion of its mission. Another education wing was added. A chapel and gymnasium were also built. The church increased its commitment to funding mission projects at home and abroad.
Dr Scott Black Johnston became Trinity’s third senior pastor in 2003. In 2008, he accepted a call to Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Then in 2010, Rev Pam Driesell became Trinity’s fourth senior pastor.
Trinity Presbyterian Church supports its surrounding community. It serves as a polling place. Its recreational spaces are open to all. The church also offers an early learning center and preschool. Trinity School even started in the basement of the church in 1951. It began with 20 four-year-olds. The school aimed to provide a nurturing educational environment. In 1963, Trinity School became the first private school in Georgia to integrate. This happened with the full support of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
