Presentation Our Lady of Victory Parish has a unique history. It began with the merging of two parishes in 1973. Presentation Parish and Our Lady of Victory joined together. Presentation was a Caucasian parish. Its building was chosen for the merged community.
Presentation Parish’s story started in 1941. However, details about its early years are scarce. The story of Our Lady of Victory began in a storefront on 8 Mile in 1943. Father Alvin Deem OFM was the founding pastor. Anna “Madre” Bates was another key figure. She is honored with a hall named after her.
Our Lady of Victory is 82 years strong in 2025. Anna “Madre” Bates was a mighty foundress.
The current building probably dates back to the mid to late 1940s. It likely had renovations in the 1970s. The church building has a simpler style. The Stations of the Cross are like those at Holy Family.
Today Presentation Our Lady of Victory has relocated. It is now on the St. Scholastica Campus. You can find it at the corner of Outer Drive and Southfield. The parish worships in the Chapel.
Presentation Our Lady of Victory strives to proclaim the Good News of Christ. It focuses on increasing love for God. The parish serves as stewards in the community. It continues Jesus Christ’s ministry. This is done through prayer and evangelization.
