The story of the Undergraduate Building begins with the University of Cebu itself. Lawyer Augusto W. Go and a group of young men established the Cebu College of Commerce in 1964. It later became Cebu Central Colleges. From these humble beginnings, the University of Cebu grew.

The University of Cebu quickly expanded. It now has five campuses across Metro Cebu. These campuses include the Main Campus, Banilad Campus, and Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue Campus. There is also the Maritime Education and Training Center Campus and the Pardo-Talisay Campus.

The Undergraduate Building has witnessed significant events. The University of Cebu has been recognized by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation. In 2016, the University was declared a Center of Excellence for different fields by the Commission on Higher Education.

The University of Cebu is known for its athletic programs. It is a member of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. The basketball team, the Webmasters, won the CESAFI championship in 2010. They were the first team other than the University of Visayas to win. The Webmasters defended their title the following year.

June Mar Fajardo and Brian Heruela from the Webmasters went on to have successful careers. Dondon Hontiveros, another former player, was a star for UC in the CAAA. The University of Cebu has also excelled in other sports. In 2010, they won the men’s football tournament. They won again in 2015. In 2014, UC won six gold medals in taekwondo. In 2017, they won the dancesport competition.

Weightlifter Elreen Ando won gold in 2019. She represented the Philippines in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In 2022, they won the most medals in swimming. In 2023, they won the men’s beach volleyball tournament.
