“Did you notice those sleek, modern screens?” That’s what I want you to think about as we approach the Otto Hirschfield Building. This eight-story building at the University of Queensland St Lucia underwent a complete façade upgrade.
The Otto Hirschfield Building is home to the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology. It includes teaching facilities for gross anatomy and histology. But its exterior tells a more recent story.
A three-million-dollar upgrade transformed the building. Over 800 square meters of aluminium sunshade screens were added. These Mirage Series screens provide excellent and uniform shading. They are ideal for commercial offices. The screens also ensure sufficient ventilation.
Louvreclad designed, manufactured, and installed the screens. They used a custom powder coat from the Interpon Range. This color blends perfectly with the surrounding greenery.
The Otto Hirschfield Building’s upgrade was completed early. This happened without disrupting the biomedical laboratories inside. Both the building occupants and the client were satisfied. That’s quite an achievement.
These low-maintenance screens guarantee a long-lasting feature. They also demonstrate how thoughtful design can improve a building’s functionality and aesthetics.
