Hear the roar of the crowd a phantom echo from years gone by. This is Estadio Román Valero. More than just a stadium it’s a living testament to Madrid’s sporting soul.

Built in 1923 the Estadio Román Valero initially hosted CD Colonia Moscardó a local team playing on a simple dirt field. Imagine the dust swirling under the players’ cleats the cheers a little more muffled than today. The stadium’s capacity swelled to 12000. That’s a sea of faces a wave of emotion.

Later natural grass replaced the dirt a significant upgrade. The stadium was renamed in honor of Román Valero the team’s most celebrated president. His legacy lives on in the very name etched into the stadium’s history.

The stadium wasn’t just about football. It hosted massive concerts legendary rock bands like Iron Maiden and Dire Straits played here. The air vibrated with music. The stadium held political rallies significant events in Spain’s transition to democracy.

Around 2007-2008 artificial turf replaced the natural grass. The capacity reduced to around 5000. Yet the spirit remains unchanged. The stadium still vibrates with energy though a smaller energy now.

Today you can find the CD Colonia Moscardó still playing here. You can almost feel the weight of history. The echoes of the past blend with the energy of the present.
