Established in 1897 Wychwood School initially welcomed just one pupil. Miss Batty and Miss Margaret Lucy Lee started the school at 41 Banbury Road. It was a humble beginning for this now prestigious institution. The school quickly outgrew its first location. By 1898 seven pupils needed more space. A move to 77 Banbury Road was necessary. Growth continued. In 1912 Wychwood School accepted its first boarders. This marked a significant expansion. The school continued to thrive and grow. In 1918 it finally settled at its current address 74 Banbury Road. This location became synonymous with Wychwood School. Miss Snodgrass took over as Headmistress in 1941.
