Murugappa Chettiar. Together, they started the TI Cycle factory in 1951. Soon, the “Hercules India” bicycle was being manufactured. By 1954, the name changed to Hercules. International quality standards were met.

Sir Ivan’s influence did not stop there. He established Tube Products India. This led to the growth of other TI factories. The population of Ambattur grew rapidly. Public amenities were needed. The TI company established a school and a post office. A bank soon followed. In 1966, a hospital was established. It was named the Sir Ivan Stedeford Hospital in his honor.
