Established in 1743, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg has a rich history. Margrave Friedrich of Brandenburg-Bayreuth founded it. Later, Margrave Alexander of Brandenburg-Ansbach expanded it. In 1961, the university’s name gained “Erlangen-Nürnberg”.
