In 1970, Woods Cross High School was designed as a series of one-story hexagonal pods. These pods were connected by double-loaded corridors. The original design lacked spatial hierarchy and had few windows. Navigation was difficult. There was little gathering space.
A multi-phase addition and remodel transformed Woods Cross High School. GSBS Architects led the project. The goal was to cultivate a culture of learning and growth. The remodel created new learning spaces. It added places to connect study make and socialize. The design opened up the building and brought in natural light. A new Main Street was carved through the building. This made wayfinding more intuitive. Environmental graphics celebrate the school’s history.
Woods Cross High School offers a wide range of sports. Students can participate in baseball basketball and cross country. They can also join drill team football and golf. Soccer softball swimming tennis track and field volleyball and wrestling are available too. One big game happens every year for each sport. It is a cross-town rivalry with Bountiful High School.
Woods Cross High School participates in the Career and Technical Education program. CTE provides technical training for future careers. Classes start in seventh grade and continue through senior year. Students can choose courses based on their interests. Options include agriculture business marketing and family and consumer science. They can also study health science information technology skilled and technical sciences and technology and engineering.
