Makuhari-sogo Senior High School is located in Mihama-ku Chiba City. It stands as a testament to educational evolution. The Shibuya Kyouiku Gakuen operates it. It is now among Japan’s top 5 high schools. This is based on the number of students accepted by top national universities.

In 2003, Makuhari-sogo shifted gears. It became a special academic-track school. A nursing course was established in 2004. The General Course followed in 2019.

Makuhari-sogo Senior High School embraces two core mottos. These are Dokuritsu Jison that means Independence and Self-respect. The other is Kyocho Shinwa or Cooperative Affinity. The school wants students to judge and think for themselves. They should act responsibly. Makuhari-sogo also wants students to treasure relationships. They should learn from each other.

The school’s vision focuses on students with a rich personality. It also values a generous heart and a dream. Makuhari-sogo strives to understand each student. Makuhari-sogo Senior High School emphasizes five key abilities. These are adapting to society. Students should analyze themselves. They should also learn to convey their opinions. Taking initiative is another important point. Students should also continue their actions.

The school operates on a semester system. The first semester runs from April to September. The second is from October to March. Annual events include opening and entrance ceremonies. There are also career path surveys and medical exams. The school also holds student council assemblies. There are PTA meetings and career briefings. Course guidance and parent interviews also take place. The Kanae Cultural Festival is a highlight. There is also a sports festival. School trips for second-year students are organized.

For nursing students, the Cap and Candlelight Ceremony is significant. Clinical practice and training are key components.

The Integrated Course is designed as a special academic track. First-year students take Industrial Society and Human Being. This strengthens awareness of career paths. This includes future occupation choices. Integrated Research follows in the second year.

The Nursing Course offers integrated education for five years. The first three years cover basic nursing subjects. The final two years focus on specialized nursing. Students aim to pass the National Nursing Examination. A Sister System pairs third-year students with first-year students.

The school boasts good equipment. The self-study room has beds and medical machines. There is also a space for home nursing practice. About 60 part-time teachers instruct specialized nursing courses. Doctors from university hospitals serve as lecturers.

Makuhari-sogo has a large scale. There are about 2160 students in 54 classes. The teaching staff includes about 200 members. The integrated course has seven 45-minute classes daily. The Nursing Course has six 50-minute classes.

International exchange projects enrich the school. There are lectures on international understanding. International music performances are also a highlight. The school interacts with foreign students.

Various clubs cater to diverse interests. Sports clubs include volleyball and soccer. There are also cultural clubs like symphonic orchestra and science.
