Twenty people. That’s how it began. Twenty people gathered in a small classroom in Accra Ghana in February 1984. This was the humble start of the International Central Gospel Church the ICGC. This very spot the ICGC Possibility Worship Temple stands as a testament to that incredible growth.
The ICGC wasn’t always this impressive structure. It started small. Really small. The early services were held in various locations. Think classrooms a private residence even a cinema theatre. Can you imagine? A church service in a cinema? The congregation bounced around from place to place until it found a more permanent home a rented scout hall. This Baden Powell Memorial Hall served as its base for a decade.
But the spirit of the ICGC was strong. The church grew quickly. From twenty members to 180 in just two years. That small seed of faith blossomed. Over four thousand people were attending services just ten years later. This growth wasn’t limited to Accra. The ICGC planted churches across Ghana and even in Europe and the United States.
Think of the dedication the tireless effort required. The ICGC Christ Temple Assembly alone planted over forty other churches. It’s a remarkable story of faith and expansion. The ICGC didn’t stop at building churches. They also established Central University College a leading private university in Ghana. This impressive achievement shows the ICGC’s commitment to education and community growth.
Central Aid the church’s scholarship program provides financial support to many students. It’s considered the largest non-governmental scholarship scheme in Ghana. It all started in 1988 as a way to help those in need. The ICGC truly embodies community service and compassion. Its impact reaches beyond the pews. This dedication to social responsibility is a hallmark of the church.
