In 1934 small groups of Christians in Englewood began meeting. They prayed for a stronger Christian presence. The Englewood Baptist Temple formed in 1935. Thirty-three members started the church. Services were held in rented spaces. This continued until 1952. That year the church moved to its current building on Tenafly Road. Around that time the church joined the Conservative Baptist Association. It stayed there until about 1980. A significant change occurred in 1985. Englewood Baptist Temple became Englewood Baptist Church. This marked a shift towards stricter biblical teachings. The church adopted the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith. This confession guides their beliefs. The Bible is central to Englewood Baptist Church’s ministry. The church works locally and globally. It supports missionaries and church planters. They train ministers and hold Bible conferences. Vacation Bible Schools youth retreats and Bible studies are offered. Community outreach includes nursing homes rehab centers and social services. Englewood Baptist Church continues to serve God. Their prayer is to remain useful to God’s kingdom. They want to stay true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. They invite everyone to worship with them.
