Can a high school be more than just bricks and mortar? At Concordia Lutheran High School, the answer is a resounding yes. Concordia Lutheran High School isn’t just a place for learning; it’s a vibrant hub where faith, academics, and extracurriculars intertwine. Established in 1984, Concordia Lutheran High School has been shaping young minds and building lives of excellence upon the foundation of Christ. Located in Tomball, Texas, in Northwest Houston, Concordia Lutheran High School serves students in grades 9-12. In the 2014-2015 school year, 515 students called Concordia Lutheran High School their academic home. This number grew to 585 in the following year, pushing the school to its capacity and requiring the use of portable classrooms. The expansion of Texas State Highway 249 contributed to this surge in enrollment. While some Exxon employees enrolled their children after the company’s expansion into northern Harris County, the school’s growth wasn’t solely attributed to Exxon. Concordia Lutheran High School boasts a diverse range of academic programs. With 15 distinct academic tracks, including 16 AP classes, 8 Dual Credit classes, and 6 Honors classes, students are challenged to reach their full potential. The school maintains a student-to-faculty ratio of 12:1, ensuring personalized attention and fostering a close-knit learning environment. Spiritual life is central to the Concordia Lutheran High School experience. Students participate in weekly chapel services, delve into theological studies throughout their four years, and connect with peers in small devotional groups known as Koinonia. Beyond academics, Concordia Lutheran High School offers a wealth of opportunities for students to explore their passions. With 21 sports programs and over 20 clubs and activities, including a unique JROTC leadership program, students can discover their talents and develop valuable skills. Concordia Lutheran High School is proud of its Fine Arts programs. Their marching band and choir programs are recognized for their excellence, often reaching state finalist levels. They also boast the only Army JROTC program in the area. The campus itself has undergone significant transformations. In 2017, a new $5.9 million, 13-classroom wing was added. This expansion included four double science labs, seven multipurpose classrooms, a multimedia green room, a production studio, and a commons area. This project significantly expanded the school’s capacity and provided state-of-the-art facilities for students. Concordia Lutheran High School stands as a testament to the power of faith-based education. It’s a place where students are empowered to excel academically, grow spiritually, and discover their unique gifts.
