Is it true that this place hosts heroes from multiple wars? Welcome to Cimitirul Eternitatea. This is a place of remembrance in Galati. It holds stories of sacrifice and dedication. Cimitirul Eternitatea was established in 1865. It followed a law stating cemeteries must be away from churches and cities. Mihail Kogalniceanu’s government issued this law. The cemetery covers 22 hectares. It was divided into plots for different religions. Orthodox, Catholic, and Jewish faiths have their spaces. There were even plots for Muslims and suicides.
In 1913, the graveyard church was consecrated. It was dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Notable people are buried near the church. Their graves stand out artistically and historically.
