Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church began in November 1950. Forty-two dedicated members formed a prayer band. Mother Pitts, Rev. J.S. Williams, Rev. E.A. Rundless and Rev. E.R. Moore guided them. Rev. Hardy from Mt. Zion gave the church its inspiring name.
Curtis R. Grant serves as the Senior Pastor. He came from Memphis, Tennessee. He learned from Pastor Frank E. Ray at New Salem Missionary Baptist Church. In 1982, Grant moved to Detroit. He joined Second Ebenezer Baptist Church under Pastor Edgar L. Vann Jr. He was involved in many ministries. These included the Youth Chorale and the Prison Ministry. He served as a deacon and directed the New Membership Academy.
In 1990, Curtis Grant felt called to preach. He became an associate minister at Second Ebenezer. In 1997, he became the pastor of Zion Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
