“Two wells? Here?” a confused traveler asks. Yes, this is Shuangta Subdistrict in Beijing. Its name means double well. Shuangta Subdistrict got its name from two wells. They were named Tianshui and Kushui. These wells existed during the reign of the Daoguang Emperor.
Shuangta Subdistrict is in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. It is near the Beijing East railway station. The Beijing CBD is also close. The Tonghui River is its northern boundary.
