The Alamannen-Museum Vörstetten is quite unique. It has both an indoor and outdoor area. Inside the museum building you’ll discover the everyday lives of the Alemanni. The first floor showcases the history of the Alemanni. It also displays original finds from local excavations. These excavations took place between 1991 and 2007. On the upper floor of the Alamannen-Museum Vörstetten, you can explore various handicraft techniques. Weaving turning forging and even bone carving are all showcased. Outside at the Alamannen-Museum Vörstetten, you’ll find a reconstruction of a stable house. This is unique in Baden-Württemberg. It’s based on excavation results from Vörstetten itself. This outdoor area also features a reconstructed clay oven. You can see a Roman corner a pottery workshop and a show garden. This garden grows old types of grain vegetables and herbs. It gives you a sense of what the Alemanni cultivated.

The Alamannen-Museum Vörstetten opened in 2009. This was after five years of planning and construction. The Vörstetten eV Museum and History Association runs the museum. The association is a non-profit organization.

The Alamannen-Museum Vörstetten covers over 4000 square meters. History truly becomes an experience here. The museum features a completely reconstructed homestead. Archaeological digs revealed much about the Alemanni. The remains of wooden posts were found. These posts once supported the walls of their homes. Charred remains suggest that the buildings were destroyed by fire.
