Nestled in the heart of Dongjak District, Seoul, stands Yangmoon Presbyterian Church, a beacon of faith and community. Yangmoon Presbyterian Church has a rich history, intertwined with the growth of the local community. It began its journey in October 1970. The first service was held in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Sindaebang-dong. Later, the church moved to its current location in Dongjak-gu, Sindaebang-dong. This vibrant church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a hub of activity, offering a wide range of programs and services. From Sunday services to Bible studies, there’s something for everyone. Yangmoon Presbyterian Church has continually expanded its facilities. In 1971 the church relocated to a bigger space in Yeongdeungpo-gu. In 1972, they acquired a 118.8-square-meter plot of land in Yeongdeungpo-gu and further developed it for worship. Just a few years later, in 1976, Yangmoon Presbyterian Church purchased a larger plot of land, measuring 778.8 square meters, and established a new sanctuary. In the same year, they officially adopted the name “Yangmoon Presbyterian Church”. This name reflects the church’s commitment to being a source of light and hope. Yangmoon Presbyterian Church’s commitment extends beyond its walls. It established 58 branch churches nationwide, starting in 1979. Then, in 1984, they expanded their global reach by setting up nine international branches in countries like Japan, Thailand, South Africa, and Nepal. Locally, they established the Yangmoon Nursery School in 1983 and continue to support community programs. These include the Gasung Community Center and the Yangmoon Volunteer Center. The church also sponsors various ministries and events. They had a special celebration planned for their 50th anniversary in 2020. Yangmoon Presbyterian Church is more than just bricks and mortar. It is a testament to the power of faith, community, and service. As you stand before it, take a moment to appreciate its journey and the countless lives it has touched.
