They had a very ambitious architectural plan, with elaborate details that would make any cemetery feel grand. Unfortunately, they had to cut back due to lack of funds but still, the Friedhof Heidelberg-Rohrbach is a great place to stroll and reflect on the history of Heidelberg. This cemetery was enlarged in 1842 and 1858. The last time they needed to add more space was in 1991. This was the need to accommodate all the new residents who had been passing on from the nearby neighborhoods of Boxberg and Emmertsgrund.
