The New College

Nestled in the heart of Chennai, The New College has been a beacon of knowledge since 1951. The Muslim Educational Association of Southern India (MEASI) founded The New College to address the educational needs of Muslim students in Southern India. The New College quickly opened its doors to students of all communities, fostering a diverse and vibrant learning environment. The New College is affiliated with the University of Madras and boasts autonomous status. The New College offers a wide array of over twenty undergraduate courses and more than twelve postgraduate programs. These span across humanities, science, and commerce. The New College even offers research opportunities, with M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs available in several departments. Located on a sprawling nine-acre campus on Peter’s Road in Royapettah, The New College is a prominent landmark in Chennai. The older buildings on campus showcase stunning Indo-Saracenic architecture.
