“Ready to discover an inclusive green space right here in Milan?” This is the Parco della Martinetta. It is a place where accessibility and community come together.

In September 2019, the Giardini Martinetti unveiled a special area. This inclusive green space spans approximately 2,700 square meters. It offers a welcoming environment for children of all abilities.

The park features colorful anti-trauma flooring. It also has accessible games and rides. These accommodate children with various disabilities.

The Parco della Martinetta is the third step in the “Parks for All” project. This project is promoted by Fondazione di Comunità Milano and the City of Milan. They collaborate with UILDM, L’abilità, ANFFAS, Inter Campus, and the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired. The goal is to create an accessible playground in each of Milan’s nine zones.

The park’s creation was made possible by UILDM and the “Playing is Learning” project. The “Tutti insieme per giocare” initiative supports the park. L’abilità association created it. It involves 150 kindergarten and primary school classes. These classes participate in workshops. The workshops raise awareness about disability.

These workshops run throughout the 2019-2020 school year. L’abilità conducts them with UILDM’s collaboration. They have the support of Fondazione Cariplo. In Municipio 7, 41 classes joined. They started the initiative during the school year.

Parco della Martinetta is more than just a playground. It is a place of learning. It is a place of inclusion and community spirit. It is a testament to Milan’s commitment. It shows Milan’s commitment to providing accessible spaces for all its residents.
