Founded on November 11 1961 Holy Cross Lutheran Church first held services in a small house. Over 100 people attended that very first service. This wasn’t just any house. This was the first Lutheran church established in Pontchartrain Park. Pontchartrain Park was New Orleans’ first middle-class Black homeowner’s subdivision. Imagine the significance. A new church in a burgeoning community. Rev James Brockmann the founding pastor spent two years beforehand. He evangelized the community. He prepared the ground for this incredible moment.
