Yeni Bağlıca is part of the Etimesgut district of Ankara. It stands as a testament to Ankara’s ever-changing urban landscape. It was not always called Yeni Bağlıca. Until 2021, it formed part of a larger district.

Rapid growth led to its separation. The decision was made to split Bağlıca into two distinct entities. Thus, Yeni Bağlıca was born.

Yeni Bağlıca’s story is intertwined with Bağlıca’s past. Evidence suggests that the area has been inhabited for millennia. Archaeological finds in the “Köy içi” and “Kepir” areas point to settlements dating back to the Chalcolithic era. These findings include artifacts from the Early Bronze Age, Iron Age, Phrygian, and Roman periods.

In 1530, historical records mention “Bağluca”. It was associated with Ankara’s Ahi leaders, Ahi Mesud and Ahi Şerafeddin. Ahi Mesud’s burial site is said to be in the Bağlıca village cemetery.

The village became a neighborhood. In 2004, Ankara became a Metropolitan Municipality. Bağlıca fell within the 50 km radius. As a result, the village’s legal identity ended.

It transformed into a neighborhood. Bağlıca continued to evolve. The part of the neighborhood along Eskişehir Road was separated. In 2014, Fatih Sultan neighborhood was formed.

This huge complex covers 763,635 square meters. It will house a medical faculty and a 1000-bed hospital. Basic sciences and stem cell institutes will be here. Also research and development and animal laboratories will be on site. Administrative offices are planned.

Yeni Bağlıca boasts educational and health facilities. There is a primary school, an Anatolian high school, and private colleges. Residents have access to a health clinic. Also there is a family health center.

Transportation is convenient here. The M2 Koru station is accessible. Buses number 562, 587, and 597 offer ring services. Minibuses to Sıhhiye are also available.
