The memorial was unveiled on July 28, 1922. Sir George Thomas Beatson MD KCB KBE attended. The Bishop Suffragan of Warrington dedicated the memorial.

The King William’s College War Memorial bears the inscription “Pro Patria 1914-1918. Pro Patria 1939-1945.” Names of the fallen are also inscribed.

The King William’s College War Memorial lists 136 names from World War I. It also lists 77 names from World War II. The names include surnames and initials of forenames.

The cross is made of Cornish granite. It stands 15 feet tall. The base is made of stone. It measures 18 feet in height and width.

Ronald F Dodd designed the memorial. He was an architect from Oxford. W H Axtell and Co also of Oxford executed the work. The memorial cost £1763.

The King William’s College War Memorial also includes a stained-glass window in the chapel. It contains allegorical figures of St George and King Arthur. The window bears a Latin inscription.
