Right here stands the Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen. This school is more than just bricks and mortar. It is a place of learning and growth. It is located in the southern part of the spa town. The Universitäts-Herzzentrum Freiburg-Bad Krozingen is nearby.

Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen’s history began in 1994. The district council decided to build a new school. This decision was due to increasing student numbers. In 1995, the council approved the building plans. They held a competition for architects. Harter and Kanzler won the planning contract. The first groundbreaking took place in 1997. The topping-out ceremony was in 1998. The school opened on September 14, 1998. The official inauguration was on April 28, 1999.

The Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen has grown since then. It has exceeded its original design. A new building was added for the upper grades. Now, almost all grades have four classes.

About 740 students attend the Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen. They are divided into 30 classes. Around 80 teachers provide instruction. The Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district is the school’s sponsor. Students come from Bad Krozingen and nearby towns. These towns include Heitersheim and Schallstadt.

The Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen offers two academic tracks. One is focused on science. The other is focused on languages. But, the choice does not limit future options. All students study the same subjects in grades 5-7. Everyone starts with English in grade 5. French follows as a second language in grade 6.

At the end of grade 7, students choose a focus area. They can pick Spanish as a third language. Or, they can choose science and technology. This focus becomes a core subject in grades 8-10. Core subjects include German, math, English, and French.

In grades 11 and 12, students have more freedom. They can choose their subjects. Students from the language track can focus on science. Those who studied science and technology can take French and English. Spanish remains only for those in the language track.

Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen has a partnership with a school in France. Since 2001, seventh-graders participate in an exchange program. The partner school is Collège Jacques-Prévert. It is located in Andrézieux-Bouthéon near Lyon. Students stay with French host families. This helps them experience daily life in France.

The Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen also supports a school in Kenya. The St. Michael School is in Mathare. This is one of Nairobi’s largest slums. The school relies on donations. The donations have helped buy food for students. They also funded a garden. The students manage the garden themselves. It provides vegetables for the school kitchen. Donations are now going towards a water connection. A rainwater collection tank was built in 2014.

Many activities enrich student life here at Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen. There are sports, math competitions, and field trips. The school also offers theater and chess clubs. Students can participate in debate and create a school newspaper.

The theater club puts on performances. In 2010, their performance of “The Physicists” received praise. The chess club competes in regional tournaments. The debate club prepares students for competitions. The student newspaper, KreisRunde, has won awards.

Since 2009, the Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen has a special seal. It is the BoriS seal for career guidance. This recognizes the school’s work in helping students prepare for their future careers.

As you leave the Kreisgymnasium Bad Krozingen, remember its commitment. It fosters growth and prepares students for the world.
