In 1989 a new chapter began. The Iglesia Pentecostal del Nombre de Jesus opened its doors in Cali. Two men Pastor Noel Ospina Muriel and Pastor Alvaro Alzate Perez joined forces. Their shared vision was to spread a message of forgiveness and restoration. They chose Cali a city brimming with life and challenges as the perfect location to start their work. Pastor Alzate Perez a man with a remarkable past had found his calling. He had lived through hardship and violence. He had faced immense challenges from a difficult childhood to political unrest. Yet he persevered and dedicated his life to serving God. His early life in the Tolima department was marked by poverty and displacement. He even slept on the streets of Armenia. But his faith remained unshaken. He found solace and purpose in the Gospel. On November 7 1961 he was baptized in the name of Jesus. This marked a turning point in his life.
Pastor Alzate Perez brought his unwavering spirit and resilience to the Iglesia Pentecostal del Nombre de Jesus. He was known for his tireless dedication and compassionate heart. He traveled far and wide sharing the message of the Gospel. He faced persecution and threats yet never faltered in his belief. He even learned to read through the Bible. In 1994 Pastor Alzate Perez moved to Pereira to lead a church there. He continued his ministry there for many years. His legacy however continues to shape the work of the Iglesia Pentecostal del Nombre de Jesus in Cali. The church’s mission of forgiveness and restoration continues to inspire countless individuals.
