The brocade industry flourished, adding to the city’s reputation for craftsmanship and luxury. Chengdu, including Chengdong, became one of China’s six major cities, a testament to its economic and cultural importance. Even today, echoes of this prosperous past can be found in the intricate patterns of Sichuan brocade, a reminder of Chengdong’s rich heritage.
