Emerging from Augsburg’s vibrant art scene, augsburg contemporary beckons. This isn’t just another gallery. It’s a dynamic project space, a crucible for innovative contemporary art. Owner Andreas Stucken has curated this space since 2019. He showcases site-specific conceptual works, paintings, photography, and sculptures. augsburg contemporary isn’t confined to its walls. It extends its reach, participating in renowned art fairs. You can find them at POSITIONS Berlin, paper positions, and art karlsruhe. augsburg contemporary has a rich history of thought-provoking exhibitions. One notable example is the “Domestic Space” series. This series received funding from the German Government as part of NEUSTART KULTUR. Another is the collaborative “Art X Augsburg” project. Even the past exhibitions resonate with creativity. “Summery,” held from July 18th to September 11th, 2021, featured a fascinating juxtaposition. It showcased an early work by British performance artist Bruce McLean, “Be attention BE,” alongside American conceptual artist Lawrence Weiner’s “& or & nor & o.” Another exhibition, “What else could I do,” displayed the diverse talents of Mark Harrington, Florian Lechner, Elisabeth Sonneck, Jakob Roepke, and Albert Weis. This exhibition, running from May 1st to June 15th, 2019, featured paintings and objects from the Zweigstelle Berlin portfolio. A local art critic, Bettina Kohlen, praised augsburg contemporary as an enrichment to the city’s art scene. She noted its unique location, a mini-shop with a large store window on Bergstraße.
