Established in 1974 Payap University’s Kaew Nawarat Campus stands as a testament to Thailand’s evolving educational landscape. It’s a smaller campus than its Mae Khao counterpart but holds immense historical significance. Picture this a bustling hub of learning nestled close to the city center.

Initially Payap College lacked its own buildings. It used borrowed space. There were two separate campuses. One was near McCormick Hospital. This is where the Kaew Nawarat Campus now stands. The other was further out of town. Expanding the smaller campus proved impractical. Skyrocketing land prices made acquiring more land impossible. So the decision was made to find a more suitable location.

About 120 acres of land were acquired further east. This became the Mae Khao campus. The Kaew Nawarat Campus however remained. This is where you find the McGilvary College of Divinity. Also the McCormick Faculty of Nursing and the College of Music are here. The campus’s proximity to McCormick Hospital isn’t coincidental. The hospital’s nursing school was one of the predecessors of Payap University. It shows a long and continuous history in education and healthcare.

The Kaew Nawarat Campus is a vibrant part of Payap University’s legacy. It’s a reminder of the university’s humble beginnings. Its story is interwoven with the development of Chiang Mai itself. It represents a vital link between the past and the present. The university’s commitment to education shines through. It’s not just bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to the power of knowledge and faith. The energy is palpable. You can practically feel the intellectual curiosity in the air.

As you stand here today you’re witnessing more than just a campus. You’re experiencing a piece of Chiang Mai’s history. You are experiencing the spirit of Payap University. You are witnessing a future being shaped. A future where learning and faith intertwine. A future for the generations to come.
