We stand on the edge of a district steeped in history, a district that has witnessed the ebb and flow of empires. The Yuetan Subdistrict, located in Xicheng District, may seem like a modern urban landscape. But beneath its surface lie centuries of stories waiting to be unearthed. The Yuetan Subdistrict wasn’t always part of the bustling metropolis we see today. It once belonged to Wanping County, a rural area outside the city walls during the Ming and Qing dynasties. The Temple of the Moon, a sacred site where emperors performed rituals to the moon god, gave the Yuetan Subdistrict its name.
