However, a chapel is documented in the Mei\u00dfen Bishop’s articles only in 1346. It was gradually expanded.

The present nave of the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf was added in 1524. A small tower was added to the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf in 1668. The parish acquired the pulpit in 1721. It features half-reliefs and dates back to 1556. It originally came from the Johanniskirchgemeinde Chemnitz. The Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf’s baptismal font dates from the 17th century.

Since 1920, a pneumatic organ from the Schmei\u00dfer company in Rochlitz has been heard here. A new peal of three bells was installed in 1962. In 2004, the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf underwent extensive renovation. The tower and roof were repaired.

Remarkable pre-Reformation features include the crucifix. There is also an altar figure of the Madonna with Child. Plus, there is a wooden figure by an unknown master in the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf.

R\u00f6hrsdorf and its church had several owners. Rudolph von Neitsch\u00fctz was one of them. He was a knight. He had a life-size relief of himself placed in the rear passage of the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf. R\u00f6hrsdorf belonged to him in the mid-17th century.

1741 was a decisive year for our Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf. R\u00f6hrsdorf came into the possession of the von Carlowitz family. In 1748, it was decided to demolish the old, small church. A new, larger church was built. The Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf was erected by order of Carl Adolph von Carlowitz. It was consecrated in 1749. That was the year Goethe was born. However, Carl Adolph von Carlowitz did not live to see the consecration of the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf. He died in October 1748 at the age of 64.

The construction of the Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf cost 1,429 talers. That is equivalent to approximately 50,000 euros today. The idea of renovating the interior of the late Baroque church first came up in December 2014. However, work did not begin until April 2017. It was completed in autumn 2017.

The oldest mention of a church in R\u00f6hrsdorf dates back to 1437. There is news of a cemetery at the church from 1534. The parish of Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf was first occupied by a Protestant pastor in 1542. His name was Antonius Lauterbach. A new parsonage was built in 1614.

During the Thirty Years’ War, the church and village were plundered several times in 1618. Plague years followed with 95 deaths. In 1648, 23 families lived in R\u00f6hrsdorf. In 1940, the three bronze bells were confiscated. They were transported to be melted down for armaments.

On Palm Sunday 1950, the bells were found again in Hamburg and consecrated. In 1951, R\u00f6hrsdorf became a sister parish of Dresden-Lockwitz. In 1998, the R\u00f6hrsdorf and Lockwitz parishes merged.

The Kirchgemeinde R\u00f6hrsdorf is characterized by a variety of offers and events. These are for all generations. Also a large number of volunteers are involved. This includes cooperation with local clubs. They help with festivals such as the Martinsfest. The Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf also works with the Kinderwelt e.V.. The Parkfest and the R\u00f6hrsdorf Christmas Market are other events. The Dorfkirche R\u00f6hrsdorf participates in the Living Advent Calendar.
