Finally in 2018 it was reorganized again. It became an independent ministry. It was once again named the Ministry of Citizen Protection.

Currently Michalis Chrisochoidis leads the ministry. He is a member of the Hellenic Parliament. He represents Athens B2 constituency. He is with New Democracy. Interestingly Chrisochoidis has held this role multiple times. He has served as a member of PASOK. He has also been an independent politician.
